Description of service
The service was a regular routine visit to my primary care physician. It amounted to a physical and a mandatory checkup to continue the regular prescriptions that I am on every month. The visit was "regular" and lasted about 30 minutes overall not including wait time. The wait time was probably another 30 minutes. Of the 30 minute "visit" time, aprox. 10 minutes was spent with my actual doctor and about 20 or so with a nurse practioner.
Review of Service
I am very happy with my doctor. I have had many over my life and he is my favorite, so I plan on sticking with him as long as possible. It is hard not having insurance but he seems more reasonable that most. I pay about $75 a visit ($73 in this case) without any insurance. I have heard horror stories of prices being considerably more than that, so I consider myself to be very lucky.
Tips
My best tip would be to asked trusted friends in your area which doctor they like. If they have complaints, it is probably not a good idea to use their doctor. A lot of it really is trial and error. Another tip if you don't have insurance (like myself) is to mention that fact to you doctor. He or she may be able to work with you (mine did for me) on the rates if he knows you don't have any insurance to help you out.
