Description of service
Recently I lost a toenail and my toe became infected. As I had no insurance and no local doctor, I called a GP in the phone book. It took three days to schedule the appointment. The cost for the visit was $150.00 payable at the time of the appointment. This cost was strictly to see the doctor and they did soak my foot in iodine and wrap it up. I was given a prescription for infection.
Review of Service
I received fairly good service. It wasn't a major illness but infections can be dangerous and required medical attention. The receptionist was cordial as were the medical staff. My wait in the office was about 45 minutes which I feel was a bit long seeing as I did make an advance appointment. The doctor was very polite and professional. He was in and out of the examining room in maybe 5 minutes. So again the cost was rather high. I feel he might have questioned me a bit more concerning my health as I told him I was diabetic. It didn't seem to concern him. Would I go back to him, probably not.
Tips
You should have an established doctor and not do what I did and depend on the yellow pages. Ask friends for recommendations. Always make sure you are aware of the total costs involved.
