Description of service
I was required to get a physical exam for a life insurance policy. The co-pay to my doctor was $15.
Review of Service
My doctor happened to be on vacation when I needed to have this physical done so I made an appointment with the doctor his receptionist recommended. Big mistake! This doctor had a terrible bedside manner. First of all, I am an overweight person. However, in the 6 months before my physical I had lost almost 40 pounds and was active in a diet and exercise program that was working quite well. After the doctor weighed me and took my blood pressure, he told me I was obese and that I needed to lose weight. I told him that I was working on it and he basically shushed me and went on a long rant about the ill effects of being overweight and then recommended I do exactly what I was doing. It was frustrating, to say the least, as I not only felt ridiculed but also felt like I wasn't being heard.
Tips
If you are getting a physical with a doctor you don't know, try telling them before the exam begins about any measures you are taking to improve your health. This may prevent them from lecturing you about something you are already working on.
