Description of service
My power started to go out as I was driving home. I made it home but tried to start the car but there was no crank. The next morning I was able to start the car with a battery charger I had in the house. I went out to work .When I left work I could not start the car and needed a jumo. I thought I must have a bad battery. So I went to my local repair shop. I had replaced the battery a few years earlier. I was surpised it had gone bad so early.
The repair shop, which I use frequently and I trust, told me the problem was the alternator and it was not charging my battery. They had to replace the alternator. They did mention that Nissan puts the alternator in a very difficult place on this model. Even for an experienced mechanic it was difficult. The other bad news was that the continued drain on my battery had caused damage to is as well. The alternator was the most expensive part, at about $280. The battery was about $80. The rest was labor and taz. The total bill was a lot more than I thought I would have to pay.
Review of Service
I used a shop that I used before and trust. I am not very knowledgable on cars so I trust him. The service was good and timely. Got it done very quickly.
Tips
I would keep an eye on the electrical system. I may have saved my battery if I caught this earlier. There may have been signs that my battery was draining
