Description of service
I recently had to get a brand new timing belt put on my 2004 Nissan Sentra. I took my car to a local mechanic that i have gone through several times before in the past for the estimate, He gave me an estimate of two hundred and twenty dollars. I took my car to a local Nissan dealership for another free estimate and I received a quote of one hundred and thirty five dollars. Needless to say, I took my car to the dealership! I paid one hundred and thirty five dollars and that cost covered the cost of the timing belt itself, the labor to replace the old timing belt as well as a complimentary car wash! I also had to pay a six percent sales tax on the service and the part.
Review of Service
It took the dealership two full days to call me back after I dropped my car off there for them to do the repair. So, I was without a car for the entire two days. The people that I came into contact with at the dealership were very friendly and nice though, I did not feel like I was getting taken for any money because I received a bill that listed each individual hour of labor and the cost as well as a breakdown for the timing belt and the total cost of it.
Tips
Make sure that you look around and get several free estimates for the job! Go with the cheapest company but also, make sure that you check out the company's credentials and make sure that they are the right people to work on your car!
