Description of service
My Nissan's transmission went out at the beginning of this year. I had it towed to the repair shop at my own expense. The rebuilding of my transmission accounted for the actual transmission itself, the materials it took to put the transmission in, the cost of having the old material discardded, the cost of labor, and an enviornmental fee that I assume was for the use of the landfill. There were no gratuities included and the original reciept did not break down all the charges. I had to request a specific invoice that included all the charges that accumulated up to the $2500.00.
Review of Service
The quality of service seemed about as good as any other. I had never had to pay for this amount of work to be done to a vehicle before. The cost of the repair costed more than the car but I did not feel up to car hunting again. The car is in realitvely good shape. What was good about the service was the timeliness of the repair and the fact that they helped arrange for a loaner vehicle. That was not itemized in my bill, however, I feel as if I did compensate them for that. They let me use one of thier cars for getting to work while my car was being fixed. I thought that was kind of them. The price was extrmely high and I wasn't told it would be that expensive. They gave me a ballpark figure prior to service and the actual amount was about $350 more than what I was told. But I was made aware that the cost may go up after the initial quote. I am happy with the repair and my safety and peace of mind knowing that the repair was a good one but the amount was overwhelming.
Tips
In the future, I will make sure all surcharges are included in my quote. Always ask the repair shop if enviornmental fees or anything out of the ordinary will be on your finalized bill. I would also suggest that before you accept a loaner car that they make it sound like it's free that you ask if there is a charge.
