Description of service
The driver's side window on my Jeep Grand Cherokee started to slip down. Eventually the window fell completely and would not go up any more. The technician described it as a failed window regulator assembly. The part cost $150 and the labor was $250. The initial diagnosis was $50. The part was not in stock and needed to be ordered. The part came in 2 days later and was fixed in one day.
Review of Service
The shop was a independent auto service shop, not a dealership.
The technician diagnosed the problem for $50. They did not have the part in stock so they offered to fix the window permanently up, so that I did not have issues with rain or security for the two days I waited for the part. The technician was friendly knowledgeable and was easy to work with.
The price seemed a bit high for a fairly easy fix. I was told that removing the door panel and replacing it is a time consuming job.
Overall I was satisfied with the service I received. The quality of workmanship and customer service were good. The overall value was average.
Tips
In the future for non-warranty window issues, I would go to a auto glass specialist. I priced some auto glass specialists after the fact and found them to be a bit lower in price. The shop I went with was chosen based on familiarity and convenience.
