Description of service
This summer I had to have the shocks and brakes replaced on my 2003 Jeep Wrangler Sport. I've owned this vehicle for 5 years and it had around 100,000 miles on it. Around that point it is recommended that the shocks get replaced and since I was preparing to go on a 1000 mile road trip, I figured it'd be best to get it done before i left than to have problems out on the road. The brakes had started to develop a small squeak to them and were about 2 years old so I decided to go ahead and have those replaced at the same time.
I had a shop up the road from where I work at repair the shocks and brakes on my jeep. They do a lot of the tire repair for us and the shop manager had me drop it off on my way into work and than he ran me back to our office (about a mile away).
Review of Service
The shop manager quoted me $450 for the parts, labor, and tax, and that was what the bill came out to be. He had the work done in one day so I was able to get a ride from a coworker back to their shop and drive my jeep home that night. I no longer had the squeak in the brakes and could feel better about my road trip knowing that the shocks shouldn't cause me any problems!
Tips
Make sure you know about what mileage you should have parts on your vehicles replaced, often repair shops try and get you to do this before you really need to even think about it. Some people let it go until they have a problem, but I would recommend staying on top of your vehicle maintenance so you don't get left on the side of the road!
