Description of service
I told the serviceman that the brakes were making a noise and that the Jeep was bouncing too much when it hit bumps in the road. The technician checked the brakes and fount that the noise was coming from the four wheel drive shift cable hitting the front drive shaft. The technician adjusted the cable and charged $31.50 for time. The technician assessed that to stop the bouncing the shocks needed replacing. He replaced front shocks, rear shocks, and the front sway bar links. Service bill was $151.20 for Labor; plus $185.48 for parts; plus $10.00 for shop supplies; plus $24.27 for Sales Tax,for a total of $370.95
Review of Service
The service was excellent. The technicians fixed the brake noise on my first visit and gave me an estimate for the shock work needed. The shop did not give me a bill for the first visit, but included their time in the final bill when I came for the second visit and they fixed the shocks. On the first visit, they also noticed that additional work is needed, but not necessary immediately. They gave me an itemized estimate of the work needed later on and I will definitely return within the next 30 days to have it done.
Tips
Ask the technician to type out a bill of everything they see that needs repair, then as what the priorities are. Then ask if they can break the bill into sessions so that you can get it all done, but not all at one time. This was not at all a problem at the service place I went to because it was all on computer and they were able to give me a detailed printout on the spot.
