Description of service
I purchased a replacement 4.7-liter PowerTech V8 engine for my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The repair took five days. The price of the engine was $2650.00 and the labor was $510.00.
Review of Service
The quality of the service was excellent. The auto repair business called me before performing any work. They were very courteous and professional, and they actually shopped around for the best price on the replacement engine, notifying me of the pricing and lead time for three options.
I realized a day after receiving the repaired vehicle that there were problems with the computerized electrical system. I was receiving a check engine message on the computerized warning system. I took the car back to the auto repair company and they fixed the problem immediately. I did not have to wait, they worked me in right then. Apparently, replacing the engine will reset some of the computerized controls and warning systems. There was no charge for this additional service. The new engine works wonderfully.
Tips
Make sure that your auto repair business shops around for pricing on a new engine. A few days delay in shipping could actually save you hundreds of dollars. I also checked pricing with two other auto repair shops to make sure I was getting the best available price for a replacement engine, including labor. Don't panic if your computerized electrical alert systems are a bit off when you have an engine replacement. The computerized systems will need to be reset by a qualified technician.
