Description of service
I had my Pontiac Sunfire in to the mechanics for some minor wear and tear, and I wound up buying new tires, replacing front and back breaks, replacing some minor electronic componants, and not replacing some other minor electronic componants. The door sensor that sensed when I opened the driver's side door was stuck, but that only cost a few dollars to repair. The ABS light was stuck on, not indicative of anything but a broken sensor, however, to replace the sensor, a part of the engine would need to be removed, so replacing a $5 part would have cost me $300 in labor.
Review of Service
The service was great, fast, and the mechanic was frank with me. He laid out the benefits and importance of each repair, told me what it was okay to skip, and the repair was done the very next day at a competitive price.
Tips
I'd definitely recommend that anyone dealing with an older model pontiac strongly consider whether it's worth fixing up. My car is probably only worth about $1,500 right now. Because the engine is sideways, several parts that commonly go in aging cars are going to require insane labor to even reach, although fixing them may not be too expensive.
