Description of service
I took the vehicle to the dealer because the temperature gauge was running in the hot zone. When they pressure tested the cooling system, they noticed that the intake gasket was leaking coolant into the engine. They had to replace the lower and upper intake gaskets, valve cover gaskets, oil pump drive gasket, EGR valve gaskets, radiator cap, thermostat, coolant bypass pipe seals and then refill it with coolant. I also had the oil and filter changed and lubed.
Review of Service
The service was done in a quality and professional manner by both the service manager and the technician. They thoroughly explained the problem, repair options and costs before starting. Once I agreed on the repairs, they did the work in a professional and timely manner.
Tips
On the internet, it appears that a lot of Pontiac Transport owners have had similar problems. The service manager said that it is a common problem for this model. Sometimes it occurred before the warranty was up and people were able to have it repaired free. My case, along with a lot of other people the warranty period had already expired. With the number of complaints, it seems like it should be a recall issue but I checked and also the service manager verified that there was no recalls on this issue.
