Description of service
I took my car to a Pontiac dealer because I though that the catalytic converter was going out. I had found out that even though my car was out of warranty that there is an 80,000 mile warranty on the emissions part, including the catalytic converter. So, we loaded up all the kids and drove 30 miles to the dealer. The problem my car is experiencing seems to be very common among my year/make model of car. When you try to start it, it turns over and then dies. You have to rev the engine to make it stay started. So, they ran all these tests and since they couldn't find anything they just charged me for putting it on the diagnostic computer.
Review of Service
We waited for a couple of hours trying to harness our 2 and 4 year old boys in the waiting room. The mechanic was very friendly, but they were unable to find my problem. I have been taking this particular vehicle in to the shop for the same problem since just about the day I bought it. The car is great to drive, I just wish that they could solve this problem. It is very frustrating.
Tips
I unfortunately have this for advice. Don't buy that model car. I've done a ton of research and found out that this is a very common problem. Some people have been able to fix it by replacing the throttle body. We had ours cleaned and it acted better for about 6 months. Just stay away from this year of Pontiac.
