Description of service
Replacement of electrical wiring needed for automatic sliding door to function. The automatic door would not open or close as described. Sometimes the door would open partially, and begin closing by itself. This posed a safety hazard.
The parts had a cost of $179.99, and labor was about two hours at a cost of $100/hour. I ended up paying about $345 for parts and labor of one and a half hours.
Review of Service
I took my Sienna to my local shop, and they determined that faulty electrical wiring was at fault. The dealership offered to replace the wiring. I was impressed with their turnaround time, as they even finished the job sooner than what they first promised. I ordered genuine Toyota parts installed by Toyota technicians, so I felt the quality of the work was high and that I got my money's worth. The problem has not repeated itself, so I'm satisfied.
Tips
I would recommend that people try their local auto repair shop first. It is also possible that a local auto repair shop might even find the real/root cause of the problem instead of simply offering a temporary solution.
