Description of service
The driver side door lock on my Celica was busted as someone tried to break into it before I had purchased it. I finally went to get it fixed as sometimes the door would refuse to open and I would have to crawl out the passenger side of the door, which was awkward and extremely annoying. I was told that they had to pretty much take the door apart to get into the locking mechanism itself. According to my bill, the total cost of the repair was split about 50/50 between parts and labor.
Review of Service
They ended up fixing the door completely, which was a relief because I could finally trust that my driver side door would open when I wanted it to. This was really all I cared about. The cost was a little bit higher than what I was expecting, apparently the locks aren't cheap and they had to spend a good chunk of time getting through my door in the first place.
Tips
I had tried another place that didn't offer auto services but was instead a locksmith, and he was unable to fix it. My advice would be to take it to an authorized dealer where you know the job will be done right, even if they will charge you more than you could get. Peace of mind isn't cheap. You should also have a car alarm on your car, as I'd doubt the kind of damage done to my car lock would have been possible if the car alarm would've gone off and scared them away.
