My Engine repair light came on and according to the manual you are to take it to an authorized center immediately. I, was of course, expecting a hugh repair bill by the time I was done. It turned out that if the gas cap is not properly sealed or defective, it will cause this light to come on. The dealer was honest about this and I was sold a replacement gas cap and given a free car wash as well.
Review of Service
The dealer offered me a ride home on their shuttle and they were very accommodating. I chose to stay around the dealership and they offered a nice waiting area and free bottles of water and juice. They were honest about what needed to be done and also offered a free car wash and a doughnut. Everyone was very helpful and the mechanic detailed the trouble to me so I could understand. Also what to avoid in the future when dealing with my gas cap.
Tips
If you see your engine light come on in your Scion, first make sure your gas cap is on tightly. When replacing the cap after gassing up, make sure to turn it 4 clicks. If this isn't the case a new gas cap probably is required.
