Description of service
Recently my check engine light came on in my 1999 Toyota 4 runner. I set up a appointment at my local Toyota dealership. The ran a diagnostic test on the vehicle and discovered that the O2 sensor needed to be replaced.
Review of Service
I dropped my vehicle off at the dealership. They expected that it would take around 4 hours to complete the job. I always bring my vehicle to the dealership for service because I always feel they will do the best job. They are not the cheapest for the service. The diagnostic charge was $65.00. And the repair cost was $225.00. I had heard that non dealer repair shops could repair the O2 for less that $150.00. The service was good. I dropped off the vehicle and the courtesy vehicle dropped me off at work. I picked up the vehicle after work and the check engine light was off. The mechanic showed me the old sensor and explained what he did and maintance of the vehicle. I was extremely satisfied with the level of care they took in explaining the situation to me. I left happy to pay the extra amount for the quality of service that a dealerships service department can give you.
Tips
Shop around. I called several places and the cost of repair varied at each individual place. Also be careful. O2 sensors are typically a precursor for other additional problems.
