My transmission went out and I really needed to get this taken care of immediately. I decided to take the vehicle to the dealer where I purchased the vehicle knowing it would be a bit more expensive, but I really wanted to make sure it was done right. The price included them finding and obtaining the transmission and the labor. So when you think about it, it is not as bad as one might originally think. I am sure I could have saved some money by taking it to another garage, but with something as serious as a transmission, I wanted to take it to the dealership.
Review of Service
To my surprise, I was very pleased with the attitudes of the mechanics at this particular dealership. They no only were friendly, but they went into detail with every step. They had my car for about a week, but constantly made the effort to contact me and make sure I was kept up to speed. In addition, I was also given an option of 3 different loaner vehicles, all of which were fully loaded and no more than 3 years old.
Tips
I understand people feeling apprehensive of getting a vehicle fixed at a dealership, but if it is something major, I would recommend taking it there. Not only do they have expertise in your specific vehicle, but they also offer extra services that other garages simply do not.
