Description of service
I had just parked my car and noticed a red liquid under the car on the driveway. I ran it over to the mechanic The mechanic hoped it was power steering fluid. Once they got the car up on the hoist and inspected everything they informed me that the transmission on my car had blown a seal.
The garage replaced the transmission seal.
Review of Service
I can't say the service was terrific. The only loaner car they had in stock was a small beater sub-compact from the late 1980's. The car was very noisy and had a terrible muffler! I was told it would be a two day job to fix the transmission seal because they totally had to remove the transmission to get to the transmission seal. I definitely understand that it is a big job to take the transmission out of a car. However it took four full days to get my car back. It was not the two days the Garage told me when I brought the car in to be repaired.
It wouldn't have been so bad waiting four days to get my car back if I had had a decent loaner car instead of the clunker beater car from the late 1980's with a super loud muffler!
However the car did get returned to be fully repaired and in good working order.
Tips
I would definitely insist on a decent loaner car when you are dropping this type of money on a car repair.
