Description of service
I needed both of my front wheel bearings changed in my car. My car was making funny noises and would sometimes have a vibration coming from the front end. My tires were also begining to wear in an irregular patern. I needed the repair done quickly to prevent further wear and tear on the tires which were only about one year old.
Review of Service
I took my car to the dealership and the charged me $45 just to tell me what the problem was. They then quoted me an estimate of $497 dollars to perform the repair. They also told me that because they were so busy the could not get me in until late the following week. I went home and called around to local garages. I called three garages and the highest estimate I got was for $300. When I asked the garage who quoted me the least when they could do the work they said immediately. I took my car in the next morning and picked it up the next afternoon. Since the repair I have put about 15,000 miles on my car with no problems. They did a great job at half of what the dealership wanted to charge me.
Tips
It is best to get several estimates on auto repair before getting it done. Most local garages will not charge you for an estimate (unlike dealerships). I also found independent mechanics are usually much cheaper than dealerships or franchises.
