Description of service
My van wasn't steering correctly and would jerk to the left randomly while I was driving down the road, so I took it to the mechanic to be checked out. The mechanic informed me that the rack and pinion was going bad and had to be replaced. I left my van at the mechanics that day, and came back the following day to pick it up. The total cost was $325, and that price included parts and labor.
Review of Service
My van is back to normal, so I think they did a very good job. Everything is running smoothly again, so I don't have any complaints. The people at this particular mechanic's shop are really friendly, so I like going there rather than going to a shop were no one wants to talk to you, and if they do talk to you, it's almost as if it's a pain for them to help you. I would give this shop a 9 out of 10, the only thing I can find wrong is that it's a little bit out of the way.
Tips
Call around to different shops to find the best price. You can use your yellow pages, or online to look under "auto repair" and call around to different ones to get quotes. Also, ask friends and family for a referral to a good mechanic.
