Description of service
The timing belt broke on my six year old Ford Focus. It needed to be replaced. Please note that my car only had 72,000 miles on it and these timing belts are supposed to last for at least 100,000 miles, so it was an unexpected repair.
Review of Service
The service was excellent. The mechanic was very thorough in finding out what was wrong, took his time, and called me whenever he had started and finished the repairs. He made certain they were to my satisfaction before I left the premises. He also very kindly came to my house and towed my car to his shop for a nominal charge, which was much easier for me than having to call AAA and have them send a tow truck out.
Tips
I recommend asking family and friends for advice on selecting a reliable mechanic. The one I used was recommended by my uncle. He had his own small shop on his property, and as such the bill was quite a bit less than what I would have paid at the dealer [just for fun, I called the dealer to inquire what it would have cost them to replace the part, and I was quoted over $1000!]. I saved a lot of money this way.
