Description of service
I took my husband's truck into a shop that did transmissions. They did a complete inspection on the truck. I told them what the truck was doing. The did a diagnostic test on the transmission. The labor for the transmission was $75 an hour. Then the parts cost $650 for the transmission, that included the transmission fluid.
Review of Service
I took the truck in on a monday. They had the truck done by tuesday morning. They did a diagnostic test on it, told me that the transmission was getting ready to go out on the truck. They asked me to leave it overnight so they could get the truck done that day. He told me that they would have to drain the fluid and then he was going to have to take the engine out to get to the transmission. From there he would take the old transmission out and put the new one in. That he was have to put it together, and then put it in the truck. He told me that it was going to take several hours. After putting the new transmission in, the would grease everything that needed to be grease, and put new transmission fluid in there, and then drive it to make sure that it was running right.
Tips
To ask people who they would refer you to. And do a reference check on that company. And always ask for an estimate of what it is going to cost.
