Description of service
I needed my transmission re-built on my 2000 Ford Focus. I took my car to several garages for estimates which ranged from $1500-$2400. The cheapest garage that offered a two year warranty quoted me $1700. The garages that were cheaper offered no warranty at all.
Review of Service
The garage I took my car to did a satisfactory job. My biggest complaint was that the repair took four days instead of the two days they said it would take. they told me they were waiting on parts. Other than that I have no complaints. I travel extensively for work and have put over 25,000 miles on my car since feburary. My transmission has given me no problems since they repaired it. They also threw in an oil change for the delay of me getting the car back.
Tips
When you need a major repair on you vehicle make sure you shop around. In my shopping I realized that the same repair can be as much as 30% more expensive from one garage to the next. Another very important detail you must ask about is the warranty. Some garages offer none at all, if it breaks the next day you may have to pay to get it fixed again. Other garages will charge you extra for the warranty which adds to the total cost.
