Description of service
Repair of a broken flange on the intermediate exhaust pipe for a 1998 Ford Ranger. They used a clamp-on flange kit to avoid having to replace the pipe.
Review of Service
I was out driving in the woods when I hit a stump and busted my exhaust under my truck! The break was pretty simple, but you know how even a simple problem can get expensive! I found an exhaust place that was well regarded by the locals, and asked for a quote. They said they might be able to make a new pipe for about 50 dollars, but then they found a flange kit they thought would be even cheaper. I agreed to have that put on, and they fit me in on the spot. Really can't complain about the work they did, but they discovered the flange cost 50 dollars on its own! The result: I paid 89 dolllars to have my exhaust repaired. That really isn't a bad price, in my opinion, but a new pipe would've been cheaper! So that was it, I fired up the truck, and she sounded quiet again!
Tips
Try asking people you know in town when you're looking for a good mechanic. I find that in rural areas, the mechanic everyone knows and trusts is worth it every time. Sometimes you can get a better price at a chain store, but the quality of work usually doesn't measure up.
