We took it to the mechanic we always go to and he quoted us $275 for the repair, which included parts and labor. The actual cost was exactly what the quote was so there were no surprises on the price. The mechanic took the car, and we picked it up the next running like new again.

I hate having to go to the mechanic because everything is so pricey, but you have to get it fixed. The mechanic I use has a large shop in the town next to mine. I drive a little bit away to get better service and a better price. At this shop, they are always so nice to me and the price is usually the lowest I can find in my part of the country.

Call around to several auto mechanic shops and see who is the cheapest. You may need to a few dozen places to get a good feel on how much you're going to be spending. If you don't know what's wrong with your car, it'll be harder to get a quote so be knowledgable as to what you need when you call around.
