Review of Service
I chose an authorized Ford service center to make sure that they would be very familiar with the car. I dropped off the car in the morning and spoke to a mechanic about the problems with the battery and fluid leak and asked for lube and oil change. They did a preliminary inspection and recommended additional repairs (fuel injection and throttle cleaning). I authorized the repairs and left the car with them. I was able to pick it up by the end of the day. Aside from the repairs I paid for, they also performed a multi-point inspection for free. The repairs were covered by a limited warranty for labor and parts 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first.
I like this service center because they are easy to deal with. Instead of getting shunted off to each person who performed the individual repairs, I only had to speak with one mechanic and one person at the front office. The mechanic I spoke did not use a lot of jargon so it was easy to understand his explanation.
Tips
Try to stick with authorized service centers because they will have more experience dealing with your car's make and model.
Ask around for recommendations or check online forums for reviews before selecting your service center. The geographically closest one may not always be the best.
