Description of service
Replacing your heating core on any vehicle is very expensive, it doesn't really matter where you go to get the repair work done, it is still going to be costly. Its a very time consuming job for the mechanic to do. He has to take a apart the whole dash to get to the heater core. I was told that it takes about 8 hours and I was given an estimate of $1000! I first noticed my heater was going bad when I turned on my heat and noticed my windshield was fogging up green, it was the coolant from the radiator leaking through my heater core making the green fog on my windshield. I also noticed a foul smell coming from my heater vents. I immediately took my car to my local mechanic to have him look at it. As soon as I described the problem, he knew what it was right away. He almost didn't want to tell me the price, because it is so much!
Review of Service
If your heater goes out, it is absolutely necessary for you to get it fixed asap. It can get so bad that coolant can leak in your car causing a permanent foul smell. It is necessary, but costly. If you get an estimate thats around $1000, thats about right, believe it or not. You have two choices, pay and get it fixed or don't drive the car at all.
Tips
With a job that costly, you may want to call around for the best prices, even saving $50- $100 is better than nothing. Every dollar saved helps!
