The repairman came out to inspect the appliance and give an estimate for the work that needed to be done. He set up an appointment and specified the time frame he would come to our home. He made it clear he would not be able to actually work on the appliance at that time. He would order parts as needed and return to do the actual repair work.
Review of Service
What actually happened is that the repairman came and in the course of running the diagnostic tests, he saw what was wrong and it was essentially a reset button that needed to be pressed because the appliance had gotten too hot during one cycle. We have no idea how or why that would be, but the fix was simple and quick. He charged us the minimum for a repair call and a second appointment was not needed. That was several months ago and the appliance is still working great. We were very pleased to have the dishwasher fixed quickly and in one appointment. We were also happy that we did not need any additional parts ordered.
Tips
Ask a lot of questions on the phone so you will know exactly what they expect to do and how long it usually takes. Keep track of the problem so you can describe it acurately.
