The total cost for parts and labor to have my Kenmore dishwasher repaired was $140.00. The initial service call charge was $45.00, two hours labor cost $70.00, and $25.00 for parts.

My dishwasher quit draining water a few months ago. It is an older model and I was planning on replacing with a new dishwasher. Since money has been tight I decided to have it repaired instead. I called a local handyman who often does this type of work in his spare time. He is an older gentleman and does handyman work to make extra money. After removing the parts of the dishwasher, he discovered that the fan wasn't working properly. Instead of replacing the whole fan, he fixed the damaged parts to save money. It a actually took longer than 2 hours to complete the job, but he only charged two hours for labor. The dishwasher has been working fine since he fixed it. I think that the price was fair.

I suggest getting extended warranties for home appliances. They usually cost a fraction of the cost of having to pay for having the appliance repaired. Getting someone that you trust to do maintenance work in your home is also a good idea.
