Description of service
I had all four of my brake drums and pads replaced with non-Honda (but still perfectly serviceable) parts.
Review of Service
I received the service at a small mom-and-pop auto shop that was run out of someone's house, as opposed to a dealership or large chain-type repair shop. The result was that except for almost being attacked by their dog (!), the shop was very good about informing me as to the price of the services before they actually did the work, and the work itself was as good but far cheaper than taking it to the dealership would have been (and this is taking into account an estimate I received from an area dealership). All in all, top notch work at very affordable prices -- my only real complaint is that it is difficult to find the shop (it is located in a rural area) if you have never heard of it ahead of time.
Tips
Talk to friends and neighbors about good auto repair shops before you start looking for somewhere for repairs to be done. I found out about this particular shop only from a close family friend. Despite living in the area for twenty years, I'd never heard about this shop before, even though they do have a website. Also keep in mind, though I think it's fairly obvious already, that dealerships are not the only places to go for repair work. As I found out, mom and pop operations do the work just fine.
