Description of service
Failed 02 Sensor replaced in my 2003 Honda Civic. My car had failed inspection due to the bad sensor and needed to be replaced. The engine light came on and I knew something was wrong. After a thorough inspection of my car the local Honda dealer determined that it was the O2 sensor near the catalytic converter. They had to order the part, which was expected to take between 3-5 business days. In addition, they had to finish the emissions test and finish the inspection of the car.
Review of Service
Overall, the dealer service was great. The part that was needed to fix the O2 sensor came fast, within 1 business day. This was 2 or 3 days quicker than they quoted me. The price was sort of expensive, but considering the quality of work they did it was well worth the cost. I would rather take my car to an official Honda dealer than a 3rd party shop. The Honda dealer's equipment is more advanced and they are trained to work on Honda cars specifically. The lady representative I spoke to was nice and honest about pricing and how long it would take to get things done. My car was done much quicker than I had anticipated, which was surprising considering that the dealer's garage seemed fairly busy a the time.
Tips
I would recommend taking your car to an official Honda dealer if you need fixed involving the powertrain. Some parts could still be under warranty, which in that case you should definitely take it to the dealer for service. This can save you money and you will be sure that it is done right. They have the best equipment to hook up the a Honda's computer to check out what problems could exist. Avoid wasting money stopping at a 3rd party dealer, as they may not even be able to fix some advanced problems because they could have a hard time detecting exactly what it is.
