Description of service
Last February my check engine light came on and I when i went in to have my emissions done they let me know that my fuel sensor was broken. I took it to my mechanic to have this fixed and he did his own diagnosis of the check engine light just in case. The part itself only cost $200 but the labor to get into the fuel line and tank was an additional $200. Apparently it is a tough task to get into that area of the vehicle and repair that part.
Review of Service
The service was remarkable, the check engine light has never come back on and i passed my emissions with flying colors. I liked that my mechanic did his own diagnostic free of charge just to make sure that was the only problem i was having. I wish the labor wasn't so expensive but then again you can't do anything about a part that is way up in the underbelly of your vehicle. He is the one repairing it, not me. Looking around at other mechanics, he definately gave me a good price to complete this repair.
Tips
Make sure to get this problem diagnosed ahead of time. Emissions cost me $30 bucks to let me know that my fuel sensor was faulty. Your local auto parts store can also let you know what could possibly be wrong. Most mechanics will diagnose the problem for you and if you get the service done at their shop they won't charge a fee.
