Description of service
Some months back i got my accord's brakes repaired. It was a bit expensive but brakes keep your life safe so its worth it. Mechanic changed the brake oil as part of regular service and also tuned them to perfection. Brake oil cost me $24 and other oils and brake pads were worth $80 and labor cost was $50 and rest were checking and other miscellaneous charges.
Review of Service
I am pretty satisfied with the service, car is perfectally fine now and is running as if new out of the showroom. It was a bit expensive affair but neverminds as service was very good and it saved a lot of my time. The service shop was authorized from Honda so quality of work and parts was never an issue. Overall it was good experience.
Tips
Brake Rotors (discs) should be inspected all the way around the surface and on both sides for any concentric scoring (grooves) or obvious defects regularly.
Brake Drums (if equipped) should also be inspected on a regular basis
Brake Pads will normally match rotor scoring but should also be inspected for uneven wear, breakage or cracking on the friction surface. Again, if defects are found, replace the pads immediately.
Inspect the master cylinder, reservoir and proportioning valve assemblies as well. Replace or rebuild as required.
To check brakes by sound, know how your brakes should sound and listen for out-of-the-ordinary noises.
