Description of service
Replacement of a cracked suspension strut in the rear axle. Can be done as part of the 100,000 mile check-up. This is an unusual part to fix, and the mechanics may not have it on hand. Servicing requires disassembling of the suspension and axle area. Once the broken strut is removed, it can be replaced.
Review of Service
The service was quick considering the amount of work it takes to access the broken part. Overall quality was very high for the price. The total time taken was about 1 hour and 45 minutes. No further issues with the part. All mechanics friendly and courteous. A free oil change was included
Tips
Make sure you take your car to a dealership for this repair. Because this is a rare part and fix, other shops may not have the part locally, and you may be charged a higher price, not to mention the delay due to shipping. If the part is on hand, the work itself should not take more then 2 hours. The part itself cost about $480, with mechanics fees contributing the rest of the price. This problem is often not found in most mechanic's checkups because of the equipment needed to detect it. Beware of scams and attempts to charge you for a problem or something that doesn't exist.
