Timing belts may last longer than this, but it is best not to risk it. Do not wait until you are stranded on the side of the road to decide to perform this maintenance item. When replacing your timing belt, I recommend replacing your seals and water pump at the same time, because they may die sooner than your next timing belt replacement. It is better to start off with new parts than to be stranded later on down the road. Also, unless you have appropriate tools, do not attempt this job yourself. It requires a special bit for a torque wrench. If you do not have this bit, it will be nearly impossible to remove the crankshaft bolt on this year of the car. Leave this job to professionals only.
