Description of service
The Door was broken and would not unlock from the outside. This is, apparently, a very common problem for this model. The lock just wouldn't turn with any amount of force. It was fine from the inside, but it was broken on the outside.
Review of Service
This seems like a really exaggerated amount of money to spend on something like this. It's kind of upsetting that such a common problem costs so much money to fix. I went around and did some price checking, and this was pretty standard for the fix, around 500. Maybe they all just thought I was a sucker or something, either way I was very dissatisfied with the service.
Outside of the price, it took a week just to fix the door. I'm not sure why it took so long to finish the service. I guess that's what I get for going with the cut rate guy. I only saved 45 dollars.
I tried to go with the broken door for as long as I could. I lasted about two years before it finally got too annoying. It makes me wish I knew anything about cars, but apparently this is a pretty technical problem. I think that since this is such a common occurrence for civics Honda should do something about it, but all I could do was just foot the bill.
Overall a very expensive fix for something that was mostly just a minor inconvenience. Well maybe not minor. Eventually I couldn't take it anymore, and my wife refused to drive the car until I got it fixed.
I shouldn't be surprised that I got ripped of by a auto mechanic. I don't know if I've ever gotten good service from an auto mechanic, and a Honda repair is certainly no exception.
Tips
Try to find someone you know who can do this repair. It shouldn't cost so much money, and if you can just live with the broken lock. It's a ridiculous amount of money to pay for such a small detail.
