Description of service
I had them install an ignition, starter coil for me. It is the core part of a starter I think. THey only charged me for the labor. It didnt' take them long. ONly about an hour or less. So they charged me a flat fee of 50 dollars. Mechanics make so much money. Just working on cars all day they make like 50 dollars an hour. There was no charge for parts beacuse I brought the parts in.
Review of Service
These guys were relatively good and reputable. I found them on cartalk which is a public radio site that talks about cars. The guy is friendly, his wife does the paperwork and they even like to tease and make jokes. But when it comes down to it, they'll fix your car for a reasonable price and they will work something out. It was fair to pay this price, only 50 dollars to put the ignition coil in. I didn't know how so I had to pay for their expertise and experience and labor.
Tips
I would say it can't hurt to ask to bring your own part in to save a few bucks. Some mechanics won't do it. But most will. SOme will only install OEM parts because there is no way to warranty it. If you don't mind not having a warranty especially just bring the part in and have them install for you. I like to do repairs myself, but some stuff I don't have the tools or knowledge for.
