I had heard a lot about how great pilates was for you and how much fun it was both from a friend and of course on TV. I decided to do a drop in class (1 class to try it out) at a local studio. It was a beginners/intermediate class and was a combination of cardio and pilates. There were about 10 of us and one instructor. They played electronica music that was both soothing but also made you want to move.
Review of Service
I would not go again. I had to leave half way through the class as it was just too much for my overweight frame. It was obvious that this was more of an intermediate class than a beginners, as everyone seemed to know the program and moves except me. I did not understand that pilates was such a vigorous workout. I thought it was like yoga really, but it was not.
Tips
Know that pilates is not a relaxing exercise. Know that if you are fat, you will have trouble with this form of exercise. I found out after the fact that this pilates class was a combo class and that not all pilates classes include this much cardio. I should have done my research before going to the class and I would have saved myself the money and embarrassment.
