Description of service
The price covered a regularly scheduled one hour group class with an accredited Pilates instructor. She doesn't publish her prices but solo classes are available at extra cost. Unlike a lot of other Pilates instructors, she doesn't seem to sell a line of accessories/clothes/videos etc.
Review of Service
The classes took place in a clean, nicely made-up room in the instructor's house and she seemed kind and friendly. Each time I went, I was the only person in the class, even though it was a regular scheduled group class. And looking at my credit card bill I understand why nobody else was there. $100 for a class is, frankly, a scam, and I'd been lead to understand that the $100 would cover a month's worth of group classes.
At least I'd only gone a week before I found out what was going on and it only cost me $300. I'm a little upset that the credit card company wouldn't reverse the charges because she managed to convince them I agreed to the fees by coming back to the class more than once. I've reported her to the BBB and hope for resolution on this issue soon.
Tips
Prices up front and in writing. Always always always. Especially if the instructor seems nice but nobody else shows up for the class. Oh, and look for busy studios, but not too busy if you're uncomfortable with crowds. Odds are the more people who go there, the better the instruction and more value they get for their money.
