Description of service
The Pilates classes I attended were taught by an undergraduate student who was very nice but not very helpful. The studio, a room with wooden floors and a wall of mirros, was a sufficient location. Water fountains were provided in the room, and we were allowed to get drinks when we needed them. We were expected to bring yoga mats and needed clothing conducive to Pilates. Most of us purchased leotards or wore yoga pants and a tank top.
Review of Service
The undergraduate university student instructor was too shy to correct her students on their technique, so I would say my experience was mediocre. I did not notice much of a difference after the Pilates classes; I am not sure that she made them intense enough. They were a waste of two hours that I could have spent lifting weights.
Tips
I would definitely skip the pilates and go do some yoga at a professional studio. You will feel much more invigorated after practicing some yoga taught by a certified instructor than you will after pilates with an undergraduate in need of some dinero. The fitness classes offered to students at the university are great, but sometimes the classes they offer are not quite up to par. Sure, you have to pay a lot more to practice in private studios, but I think the price is worth it.
